Cholesterol Screening Program:
Beacon is working with the Foundation for Healthy Communities to ensure appropriate cholesterol screening for men and women.
Coumadin Program:
Patients taking Warfarin (also called Coumadin) can come into the office for the blood test that measures how quickly the blood clots and have their medication adjusted as needed right in the office.
Diabetes Management Program:
Patients with diabetes will receive comprehensive care management along with excellent educational materials and resource information to learn more about their condition. Additional, Beacon has an excellent relationship with the Center for Endocrinology and Diabetes at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Collaborative care between the physicians of both practices is the standard for all Beacon patients with diabetes.
Walking program details:
As a resident of the Seacoast, you are cordially invited to Come Exercise With Us!
Program begins each year in the spring with an informational meeting.
Dr. Marni Nicholas would like to help you get in shape. She will be running a FREE exercise workshop twice a week. Join her for this walking/jogging/running program that is geared towards all levels -- from the person with no exercise experience at all, to the accomplished runner. This two-month program will finish with the completion of a 5K (3.1 miles) walk/run in Portsmouth.
The program will meet every Tuesday at 6:00 pm and on Saturdays at 9:00 am at various locations. Come on one or both days. All ability levels are welcome - beginners are especially encouraged! If you have any concerns about your ability to participate, call your primary care doctor.
Geared to all levels of physical fitness, this twice a week walk/jog/ run program will also offer information sessions on:
- Nutrition
- Weight loss
- Stretching
- Injury prevention
Behavioral Health Counseling
We are pleased to be able to offer counseling services. Jennifer Cogan is a licensed psychotherapist who is on site and accepting appointments to see our patients about depression, anxiety, communication, grief and loss, stress, family issues, crisis management, and substance abuse.
Nutrition Visits
Patients can schedule an appointment with one of our Physician Assistants who is also a Registered Dietician to learn more about eating healthy.
Walk-In Clinic
We now have walk-in hours available for our patients with minor illnesses. This service is available from 8:00am to 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Here is a list of things we consider to be appropriate for our patients to walk-in for: cold, cough, congestion, acute back pain, rash, allergies, acute migraine, insect bite, acute injury, and/or symptoms of Conjunctivitis, urinary tract infection, or ear or sinus infection.
